Interior design trends to look forward to in 2019

In 2018, black was the new black, and global-inspired patterns popped up everywhere in homes across the city. As the year comes to a close, we are looking ahead to these four exciting trends on the horizon for 2019.

Acrylic Furniture

Acrylic is like a design chameleon—it adapts to the color scheme and style of any room. From Ghost chairs to Lucite coffee tables, it’s clear that acrylic furniture can give a room structure and function without taking up visual space.

Mixed Metals

For accessories and accent pieces, choosing a variety of metals can give a room a tastefully hip vibe. Brass, gold and nickel accents mix well with oil-rubbed bronze or aged iron accents. Metals like silver and pewter look great with bronze and black brown metals.

Bold Bathrooms

The minimalist, spa-like design that has been popular for the last several years is making way for sultrier bathroom designs that have a more indulgent, high-end feeling. Leapfrogging off the black trend of 2018, onyx walls and dark tile with brass and silver fixtures create an elegant, sexy space.

Fringe and Passementerie

Bring back the trimmings! From pillows to lampshades to upholstered chairs, modern interpretations of trims, bullion fringe and tiebacks will be in. Vibrant jewel tone colors and unusual shapes will make passementerie accents look on-trend, rather than dated.
