A Gentleman’s Guide to the Best Barbers in Philly

A Gentleman’s Guide to the Best Barbers in Philly

Bryce Harper recently signed to the Philadelphia Phillies and he plans to bring more than just his baseball skills to town. The right fielder has hopped on board as an investor in Blind Barber, an upscale barber shop with locations in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. Harper is bringing the chain to Center City’s historic Hale Building but with a twist, as the Philly outpost will also feature a speakeasy upstairs, so fellas can get a shave and take some shots in one fell swoop.

We’ll have to wait until its fall 2019 opening to see what else Blind Barber has in store, but in the meantime, check out these other barber shops we love located in and around Philly:

Meister’s Barbershop
Dudes love Meister’s not just for the team’s amazing universally flattering cuts, but for their flexibility. They don’t take appointments so expect a line when you show up, but the plus side to this is that you can, well, just show up, and don’t have to stress out if your busy schedule doesn’t allow for you to plan far enough in advance to make an appointment.

Barber on 24th
Located in Rittenhouse Square, this traditional corner shop offers nothing out of the ordinary—just shaves, trims and cuts. But they excel at all three, and the staff, made up predominantly of women, will cut your kid’s hair, too.

Blokes Barbershop & Gentlemen's Emporium
In addition to cuts and shaves, Blokes, owned and operated by a husband and wife, sell grooming products, travel items and other items geared towards men, so it’s a one-stop-shop. The best parts of this spot, though, are the 1963 jukebox in the background that plays old tunes and their First Fridays, when they feature local artists and musicians.

American Mortals
Each of this salon’s three locations—Grad Hospital, Queen Village and its original outpost, Washington Square—pays homage to the eccentricities of the neighborhood it’s in and the stylists who work there. But at all three salons you’ll get phenomenal service and a cut that’ll make you book your next appointment ASAP.
