Philadelphia Thai restaurant Kalaya tops Esquire list of Best New Restaurants in America

Two Philadelphia restaurateurs received major national kudos Tuesday by making Esquire magazine’s (pandemic edition) Best New Restaurants in America annual list. 

Nabbing the No. 1 spot on the 2020 ranking is Bella Vista’s Thai restaurant Kalaya, which quickly gained popularity in Philly’s food scene when it opened in January 2019. The Esquire list is comprised of 23 restaurants. 

Kalaya is located at 764 S. 9th St. and comes from Chef Chutatip “Nok” Suntaranon, a James Beard Award finalist.
